… and that’s about it. When I was in middle and high school I was in band and played everything from the trombone to the baritone and tuba but my musical aspirations sorta died there. So it’s not that I don’t have skill, or that I can’t learn — I just haven’t. I know many folks that are completely tone deaf, I’m not one of those. I just haven’t had the time/inclination to invest into learning a musical instrument.

My lack of musical skills came gallingly apparent one year at Halloween when everyone in the company showed up playing some instrument or another — and I had nothing of the sort. One of the co-workers asked with complete honesty and earnest, “What instrument do you play?” as if it were a foregone conclusion that I had to play something..

My response was, “I can play the radio..” Which got a chuckle from everyone who heard it, but it left me a little hollow inside. I really do want to learn something I just am not sure what. Or rather, I wasn’t.

So with the fixing of a very minor bug in my colorChooser in my WPMU theme, the preset selector works in the iphone version of safari now. There are a couple minor CSS issues that need to be resolved with the iphone version, but nothing major.. (I think its something to do with what it interprets as an EM where fonts are concerned.. Not sure yet..

Things like this make me more and more impressed with the iphone and safari specifically. Safari really has come a very long way and is a darn good browser.

The only issue at this point is that the click and drag functionality in the iphone doesn’t work. And to be honest, I’m not sure how to overcome that.. It’s extremely low priority, but was just one of those “hey lets try this” things, since I have an iphone.

More as I do it..

So I find I have been playing quite a few web based games of late. And just about all of them has brought to the fore of my mind the glaring fact that there is nothing they have done that I can’t do. Seriously. More over, I think I can do it better in just about every way.

One of the games I find myself playing is a space game which, to be fair, isn’t very good — in fact it’s bad. It’s just not a very good game, yet for some reason I find myself continuing to play it — as does a lot of other folks. It’s strangely popular. While playing at just about every turn I see things that could not only be done a little better, but done WAY better. Not just game play wise, but technically as well. Their HTML is bad, they clearly don’t understand CSS and their PHP is poorly written (from what I can tell.) So, this of course always lead me to the line of thinking that, why shouldn’t I try to make my own?

So I got the Wordpress MU blog system up and running YESTERDAY. And today I wake up to some spam in the form of a bot that created a “wow gold farmer” blog. It was completely random crap and went a pretty long way towards detailing my need of some form of bot protection.

I’m stunned that I got botted so soon after putting it up, more over on domains that didn’t exist until yesterday.  BUT likely due to my post of yesterday which told the bots where to go — woops.  A solution was required and fast! Read More

I go on a lot of walks here in my neighborhood in order to unwind for the day.  I also like to delude myself and say its exercise but lets be honest, 3 miles every other day aint going to do much.

While out on one of my walks I ran across a 40oz bud light beer can that some asshat had probably tossed out of his car, laying on the side of the road.  I didn’t pay it any mind and kept walking but something about it was out of the ordinary so I actually turned around and walked back to look..  It was a can of “Chelada”. There is no two ways about it, Steve Jobs is a pretty smart fellow, and the latest iPhone hotness just proves it.

Lets be completely honest here, the hardware upgrades aren’t that great though. I mean its an improvement, but its not a super vast improvement.. The 2 major things the new hardware brings to the table are 3G networking, and GPS. Both of which for me mean very little.

My current iPhone’s 2G networking works great for me. I mean so what if it takes 60 seconds to load a webpage instead of 30 seconds.. (Or 59 to 23 or whatever it was.. ) I just don’t mind waiting that couple extra seconds.. its not that big of a deal.
